Tottenham seem well backed to win this derby clash, as they are priced up at odds of 21/20 with Betfred to take the spoils. The Gunners can be backed at 12/5 with Ladbrokes to secure an away win, which is something they desperately need right now. The draw is priced at 27/10 with Coral, but a point would suit neither side here given they are both currently outside the top four.
The Champions League race means both sides need to take maximum points on Saturday. They should both be smelling blood in the water, with Chelsea stumbling and looking set to fall out of the top four after some woeful results in the last few weeks. Tottenham head in to this game a point shy of the champions, while the Gunners are now five points off fourth. They could find themselves seven points behind Spurs this weekend, which would be a significant gap.
Tottenham may have lost the reverse fixture at the Emirates, but they do have a strong record against Arsenal in recent years. After three wins in their last five home Premier League clashes with the Gunners, they’ll be expecting a victory at Wembley on Saturday.
It’s hard to look at this game and see anything other than a home win. Arsenal’s away form has been holding them back all season, with just 29% of their points this term being earned on the road. The Gunners have lost six of their 13 away trips, picking up just 13 points on their travels. Arsene Wenger’s men have lost at Bournemouth, Swansea and Nottingham Forest already this year.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have won seven of their last eight at home in all competitions, and they’ve seen off Man United and Everton by an aggregate score of 6-0 here recently. We think Spurs are great value at 21/20 with Betfred. Pochettino’s men were superb in the second half at Anfield recently and a similar performance could see them overrun Arsenal here.
That said, we’re actually going for a tight first half between these two sides, as the Gunners have gone in level at the break in eight of their 13 away matches this term. Meanwhile, Spurs have seen five first halves finish goalless, and they’ve been ahead at the break in less than half of their home games. With that in mind, we see big value in the half-time/full-time market, with Draw/Tottenham available at the great odds of 9/2 with Betfair.
Alternatively, if you like correct score betting, why not check the 2-1 home win. Recent meetings between Spurs and Arsenal have been close. Despite Arsenal’s dreadful away record we don’t see them going down without a fight and so 2-1 to Spurs looks a good bet. Odds of 8/1 with Betfair look like solid value to us too.
For higher odds you could back 3-1 to Spurs at 14/1 with William Hill. Alternatively you could play it safer and plump for Spurs and BTTS at odds of 12/5 with Betfair.
