Slovakia v England Betting Odds
Betfair make England 8/11 favourites ahead of this clash, while they have Slovakia priced out at 5/1. SkyBet are best priced for the draw, which they’re offering at 13/5. While England have had their problems at the Euros, it seems like the bookie are expecting them to crusie through as group winners. But can Slovakia get in their way?
You only have to look at the display they put in against Russia. Marek Hamsik scored a wonderful goal in that game, showing just how talented he is. With all the talk of combined English and Welsh teams this week, you’d say that Hamsik would walk in to England’s starting 11. The Napoli man came close to a goal against Wales, and he’ll be aiming to take down the Three Lions.
That being said, England should have a massive confidence boost following that win over Wales. The nature of it should inspire them, as long as we don’t see Roy Hodgson reverting to type in the next game. His forward line of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana wasn’t working in the first game, but he stuck by them. Could he do that again?
Hopefully he’ll learn from the last win, and make a few changes before this game. Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy must be pushing for places at this point. Sterling’s awful game should see him out of the team, while Lallana’s work ethic should save him. The Liverpool forward doesn’t score enough, so he needs strikers alongside him.
We expect Hodgson to give his side more attacking threat this time around. The Slovakians have been very open in this tournament, and that bodes well for England. They should be able to find gaps in their defence, so we’re backing a big win for the Three Lions. We see them scoring over 1.5 goals here, which is priced at evens with Coral.
Having said that, England have problems at the back, too. After the last game Joe Hart is now a worry, along with the back four. Wales and Russia have found it easy to get through, the likes of Hamsik and Vladimir Weiss stand a great chance. While we still see England taking the points, we’re backing Slovakia to get a goal. An England win and both teams to score is our second tip, at 16/5 with Betfair.
