At around 5.30am on Sunday 3rd May (UK time) at the iconic MGM Grand in Las Vegas the two greatest boxers of their generation will finally go toe to toe and we can’t wait.
Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao Betting Offers
Coral – Back Mayweather at 5/1 or Pacquiao at 10/1
Coral are offering NEW CUSTOMERS the chance to back Floyd Mayweather at massively enhanced odds of 5/1 or to instead opt for Manny Pacquiao at a very nice price of 10/1.
While the maximum bet is just £5, winnings are paid in cash and you’ll get a £20 free bet if your bet loses!
Betfair – 3/1 on Mayweather or 8/1 on Pacquiao
Betfair are offering a similar deal to Coral, enhanced odds on either fighter, but while their odds are slightly shorter, they will let you bet a maximum of £10, will refund your stake as a free bet if your bet loses and will then allow you to qualify for a further £100 in free bets!
BetVictor – Money Back if Either Fighter Gets Knocked Out
BetVictor are offering new and existing customers money back on losing bets (up to £10, paid as a free bet) if either Mayweather or Pacquiao gets knocked out in the big fight. Note that technical knockouts don’t count, but the fact it is open to existing customers is a bonus (and new customers are still entitled to the £25 free bet when joining BetVictor).
Boylesports – Money Back if Fight Ends Before 9th Round
Boylesports are offering a similar offer to BetVictor but they are giving refunds on losing bets up to a higher maximum of £25 and their offer applies if a knockout, technical knockout or disqualification occurs before the start of the ninth round.
Unibet – Money Back if Fight Ends Before 7th Round
Unibet are offering money back on losing bets of up to £20 if the fight ends before the start of the seventh round. They also offer £20 free bets to new customers.
Both fighters are the wrong end of their 30s, with Mayweather almost two years older at 38 and Filipino legend Pacquiao aged 36 but the fact that they are ranked the first and third best pound for pound fighters by Ring shows that they are still undoubtedly class acts and their meeting is sure to be captivating.
Billed as the Fight of the Century, it may be worth remembering that the century is only 15 years old! Both of these fighters are past their best, that fact cannot be ignored, much as the men selling tickets for £100,000 would like to try. Mayweather v Pacquiao will be thrilling, fascinating and enthralling of that there is no doubt but as betting men it pays to retain at least a semblance of realism! Of course, there are strong arguments for both men managing to triumph in the fight, but read on as we give our view on who will be victorious.
Will Pacquiao Beat Mayweather?
The men making the odds and most boxing experts agree and the answer to our question is a simple “no”. If you disagree then you can get best odds of 2/1 with Bet365 whilst those wishing to bet on Mayweather to beat Pacquiao can get 1/2 with Sky Bet. The draw, which would make the clamour for an incredibly lucrative rematch very hard to resist, is available at 18/1, also with Sky Bet and in a fight almost guaranteed to be close and likely to go the distance there are certainly worse bets around.
We’ve offered three betting tips (for the blind they’re in the grey box) and whilst they might seem somewhat contradictory, stay with us on this one.
Mayweather On Points
Mayweather is the slicker fighter, seems less affected by the unavoidable influence of age and, perhaps most crucially of all, is fighting in his home country. There is more money in a victory for Mayweather, an unavoidable truth highlighted by Oscar De La Hoya, who said he felt the close rounds would go the way of Money – in more ways than one. With two determined and brilliant fighters there are sure to be a LOT of close rounds and whilst American judges often favour the more aggressive fighter, Mayweather’s ability to outthink opponents and remain elusive should see him just edge this one…at least on the judges’ scorecards. Odds of 8/11 may seem short but if you fancy a huge wager this looks a likely outcome to us, with Ladbrokes (£25 Free Bet) offering the best odds…and a free bet to new customers too!
Pacquiao To Land Most Punches
Pacquiao is a warrior and will be the aggressor here. Much as Mayweather is hard to hit, by pure volume of punches thrown the bout underdog looks a great bet in this market at nice odds of 11/10 with Betfair – especially with many betting sites odds-on.
Pacquiao On Points
Having tipped Mayweather on points, we now tip Pacquiao on points…WTF?! Well, this fight is sure to be close and whilst we think the favourite will just about do enough, HUGE odds of 11/2 with Betfair for Pacquiao are very, very interesting. You could back both options and have a much smaller play on this outsider, or if you just think that the sheer will to win and relentless style of Pacquiao will lead him to an upset this is the bet to go for. We’re convinced this one is going all the way and whilst we expect the judges to favour the American, if the underdog can do enough he could easily get the nod too.
