Liverpool v Tottenham Tips and Betting Offers, Premier League, Sunday 4th February 2018
Liverpool are out to strike a blow to direct rival for the Champions League spots this weekend. However, Tottenham are fresh from doing that themselves. They beat Man Untied 2-0 in midweek, and now they travel to Anfield before facing off with Arsenal. It’s been a big week for Spurs, but claim a victory on Merseyside would be a huge step forward for their hopes of securing fourth. Can Mauricio Pochettino’s side succeed where Man City failed?
The Reds have been made 11/10 favourites with BetVictor, which isn’t surprising given their last league game here. Tottenham are priced at 12/5 with Betfred to take the points, while you can get 13/5 on the draw with Ladbrokes. Will Liverpool manage to put Spurs to the sword, or can the visitors turn around their form against the top sides?
While Spurs did manage to see off Man United in midweek, they’ve not had the great record when it comes to facing off with the Premier League’s giants. They’ve lost all three of their away trips to top six opposition so far this term. Ahead of their penultimate trip to a Champions League rival, they need to up their game.
The issue for Spurs here is that if they show up anywhere below their best then they could be pulled apart. We saw them impress in the reverse fixture at Wembley, but Liverpool were awful that day. Can they made up for that shoddy display by pulling off a huge result at Anfield this weekend?
We should expect a high scoring game when Spurs arrive here, especially with Harry Kane looking to continue his goalscoring exploits. Tottenham raced in to an early lead at home to Untied, and starting with that kind of intensity could make for an excellent game. However, we struggle to see just how Spurs are going to contain this Liverpool attack. The hosts have Mo Salah in excellent form, while they’ve averaged over two goals per game at home this term. Having score 15 times in their last six at home to Spurs, we’re backing over 1.5 Liverpool goals at 3/4 with Coral.
However, we could see more than a couple in this one, especially as Liverpool look to make up for the four they conceded at Wembley. Given how thrilling their last two home matches have been, we can see another high scoring affair when these two meet, given the strength of the attacks on show. Spurs have scored twice in five of their last seven in the league, while Liverpool have 11 goals in their last three at home. With that in mind, we’re backing over 3.5 goals at 8/5 with Betfair.
