Linfield v Celtic Betting Offers and Tips: Get odds of 25/1 on there being a goal scored, Champions League, Friday, 14th July 2017
Linfield host Celtic in one of the biggest games in the Northern Irish side’s history. Can they claim a famous win and cause one of Europe’s biggest shocks? After all, Celtic lost in Gibraltar this time last year.
With local tensions surrounding this game, could this be another awful defeat in Europe for a Scottish side? Having mixed with the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City last term, the Bhoys need to progress in to the Champions League proper.
If you fancy an easy win, Coral have a great betting offer for new customers. Join the bookie and claim enhanced odds of 25/1 on there being at least one goal scored in the game!

Celtic are priced as short as 1/12 with SkyBet ahead of their trip to Belfast. You can get 8/1 with BetVictor for the draw in this clash, while a home win is available at the massive price of 40/1 with Betfair. Clearly the bookies know who they’re siding with on this one, but just which bets should you be looking to for value?
Celtic should win this game quite easily. While the Scottish sides have struggled in Europe in 2017, that’s come as quite a surprise. Few expected a first round exit for either Rangers nor St Johnstone. Both sides were expected to progress, and Celtic should keep the Scottish flag flying in Europe with the right draw this season.
Landing Linfield is probably the best draw that the Bhoys could have got in a purely footballing point of view. One of the worst sides left in the draw from a limited league, plus it’s a short trip back for the squad. Obviously the fans won’t know too much about the last part, with the visitors deciding not to take up an away allocation in Belfast to avoid any trouble.
Celtic should still win even in a cauldron of opposition. They have enough quality to end this tie in the first leg, and Linfield know that. They were afraid of a heavy defeat in Glasgow ending interest in their home game, so they refused to swap dates. That fear is why this game has been moved to a Friday, so we could see a heavy win for the Scottish champions.
Despite regularly appearing in the Champions League over the last 10 years, Linfield have managed just three goals. We can’t see them adding to that here, while Celtic should score at least three. That why we’re backing over 2.5 goals and backing against both teams to score at 27/20 with Coral; because the Bhoys should win to nil by a handsome margin.
We’re also backing Celtic with a -3 handicap, fresh from their 9-0 win over Shamrock Rovers in Dublin. Rovers are currently in the Europa League, so they’re decent in comparison to Linfield, which makes the -3 handicap look like great value at 2/1 with Betfred.
