Betting Tips

  • Marcus Rashford to score at 12/5 with Coral
  • 1-1 Draw at 5/1 with bet365

The World Cup feels like a long time ago, but the memories of their Moscow heartbreak is going to be recent for the Three Lions. Gareth Southgate has continued to renovate his side, and he’s taking a look at a few new names this week. That includes Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, who could make his debut after impressing in the Bundesliga this season.

Sancho is the only foreign-based star in England’s squad, and he joins the likes of Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane in competition for a front two place. The visitors are likely to stick with their back three system, 12 years on from their horror show under Steve McClaren. They seem much more comfortable with the back three of late, and as a result we’re expecting the away side to stick with their usual approach.

Betting Verdict

Croatia come into this clash as the favourites, and they’re priced at 17/10 with 888Sport to claim a victory here. England are 13/8 with Betfair to claim an away win, while the draw can be found at 11/5 with Ladbrokes. The last encounter between the two was incredibly tight, and this one is likely to go in a similar direction. While Spain may have blown Croatia away last month, England will face a much tougher test in this visit.

The visitors will be looking to Marcus Rashford this week, and the forward should have earned a place in the starting 11. He should take up a place alongside Harry Kane, given Sterling’s slow start to the new season. Meanwhile, Rashford scored twice in the last international break, hitting both of England’s goals in their clashes with Spain and Switzerland. With that in mind, we’re backing Rashford to score at 12/5 with Coral.

We’re also tipping a 1-1 draw between these two, who are now battling to avoid relegation after Spain’s speedy start. We can see each side finding the net – they’re both certainly more talented going forward than back. However, both will be treating this like a competitive game, so no one is going to take too many risks. With that considered, a 1-1 draw sounds like the most likely outcome, and it can be found at 5/1 with bet365.
