France v England Tips and Betting Offers: Get 20/1 Enhanced Odds on a Goal to be Scored, International Friendly, Tuesday 13th June 2017
Can Gareth Southgate claim his first big scalp at senior international level? He takes his England side to France in midweek, buoyed by the fact that their youth sides have enjoyed a brilliant summer already. Having won the Toulon Tournament and the Under 20 World Cup, the future of the Three Lions looks bright heading in to the Under 21 Euros this summer, and next year’s World Cup. Can Southgate build on that promise with a victory over a major rival?

France come in to this friendly as 10/11 favourites with Bet365, while England can be backed at 3/1 with BetFred. With the draw out at 23/10 with BetVictor, clearly the bookies aren’t putting much faith in the Three Lions. However, their Under 20 side caused an upset to leave South Korea as world champions, so can that inspire the senior side to win this week?
Southgate isn’t likely to take this friendly lightly. His side have started a new pattern of taking on major sides in friendlies, balancing out the lack of competition in their qualifying group. Having said that, the Three Lions did draw 2-2 to Scotland on Saturday, needing a late strike from Harry Kane to earn them a point.
If they’re struggling against the supposed weaker sides in qualifying, this friendly might be a test too far for England. Having lost to Germany and drawn with Spain in previous clashes with Europe’s elite, a trip to Paris does seem daunting for this side. There’s little room for Southgate to rotate, especially if he wants to test his best against the rest of the world.
France seem to be deserved favourites, as they come in to this clash with a wealth of talent. Their 2-1 loss at Sweden in qualifying at the weekend shows that the French aren’t completely infallible, they’ve got a few worries at the back too. We see Les Bleus getting a goal after watching England defend against Scotland. Even with Joe Hart shipped out the side, Didier Deschamps’ men will still create chances. However, England have attacking talent of their own, so we’re backing both teams to score at 19/20 with Ladbrokes.
England’s key attacking threat is Harry Kane, who took up the captain’s armband against Scotland. He’ll be freed from that burden this week, but he should get another start as he aims to continue his brilliant end of season form. He’s now scored eight times in his last four for club and country, and we see him bagging another goal in Paris. We’re backing Kane to score any time on Tuesday, which is priced at 9/4 with Bet365.
