Arsenal v Leicester Tips and Betting Offers, Premier League, Friday, 11th August 2017
Can Arsenal kick off the new season by seeing off the 2016 champions? Leicester have a tricky opener as they look to improve on a midtable finish last season, but they’ve made some good signings this summer. Just how will their new boys get on when they head to the Emirates in the first game of the new Premier League season? Could we see another huge Leicester shock on the cards, or will the Gunners carry their Community Shield form in to this one?
The Gunners can be backed at 4/9 with Betfred to open the season with a victory, which seems justified. They had a strong record against bottom half sides last season, so we expect a home win. The draw is 15/4 with BetVictor here, while the Foxes are 11/2 with Sky Bet for a win here, a feat they didn’t even manage when they won the title.
Last season these two met on the second weekend of the campaign, and we were fairly certain there’d be goals in that one. However, a 0-0 followed as both picked up their first point of the season. We can’t see a similar outcome this time around, especially after the both sides have invested heavily in new forwards this summer.
With Alexandre Lacazette on board, the Gunners have even more threat going forward. They certainly rival City for having the best front three in the league, with the Frenchman lining up in between Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. Will that lead to goals on Friday night?
We think goals are very likely here, given that the Foxes had a strong scoring record on the road last term. After scoring away to five of the top seven last year, we see the Foxes grabbing a goal here. The Gunners have the firepower to fight back, but we think both teams to score is worth backing at 8/11 with Ladbrokes. Given their defensive record, we can see the hosts slipping up at the back on the opening day, especially with Laurent Koscielny injured.
We see a Leicester man stepping up an getting a goal, and it could well be new signing Kelechi Iheanacho. The forward looks like a brilliant signing after impressing for Manchester City, and we see him having a good campaign at Leicester this season. While he was a tad steep at £25million, there’s certainly goals to come from the former Manchester City man. We see him hitting the ground running here, and his price of 7/2 with Betfair to score any time looks like brilliant value. That’s our second tip on this game, which seems like a smart bet in a game which should see goals.
